A Magic Potion for Hot Flashes!

Practical Tool n.1 | A Magic Potion for Hot Flashes!

If you're navigating the ups and downs of perimenopause, you may have heard of Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis), sometimes called "female ginseng." Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries, this powerful root may help ease some of the most common symptoms of hormonal change, especially hot flashes.

I started to use it a while back, and I can swear that my hot flashes are gone.

But for reference, I don’t have severe hot flashes, but the little ones I had stopped as soon as I started to take Dong Quai.

This magic potion comes in different forms: tea, capsules, and liquid.

I take the fluid extract because it works better with my body.

I went to research a bit more about the benefits of Dong Quai for Perimenopause, and this is what I found out:

• May reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes

• Contains phytoestrogens, plant compounds that gently mimic estrogen

• Traditionally used to support hormonal balance and menstrual cycles

• May improve blood circulation and reduce mood swings

• Has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties

Dong Quai is often used in combination with other herbs (like black cohosh or liquorice root) in natural formulas to support overall menopausal wellness.

***But please note that with plants (and medications), there are certain things we need to be aware of. Dong Quay is not recommended if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. You need to avoid it if you have or are at risk of breast, ovarian, or uterine cancer. It may interact with blood thinners. It can cause light sensitivity, digestive upset, or allergic reactions in some people.

If you have tried Dong Quai or other natural supplements for perimenopause, please share your experience in the comments!
