Shadow Work in Perimenopause

Your Light doesn't trigger any shadow!

This post is not meant to trigger anyone, but it may. In that case, please don’t hold it against me, but see it as an invitation to reflect on what I am about to say.

I have been walking my spiritual path for more than 20 years, and what I’ve been reflecting on these last few days is the common phrase “my light is triggering their darkness”.

It is something I often heard in spiritual circles and that I used to think too many years ago.

While it may feel empowering on the surface, it can sometimes become a form of spiritual bypass. When we label others as “triggered by our light,” we might be avoiding the deeper invitation to look at what’s really being stirred within us.

What if it’s not our light triggering their darkness, but instead it’s our own unacknowledged shadow meeting its own reflection in the outer world?

What we perceive as “darkness out there” might actually be resonating with the parts of ourselves still longing for compassion, healing, and integration. Or maybe just the part of us that is dark.

True light doesn’t need to defend itself. It simply shines. It doesn’t force, fix, or overpower. It illuminates gently, making space for all that is.

And our own darkness… it doesn’t need to be “healed” by the light as if it were wrong. It needs to be witnessed, felt, and welcomed, not as something to get rid of, but as a sacred part of the whole.
